Exclusive One Moving

Consular certification made before shipment

Mexico is one of the few customs authorities that requires a prior consular step: the List of Household Goods must be certified at the Mexican consulate in Brazil before the cargo departs, and the customs duty relief of articles 61 and 142 of the Ley Aduanera only applies to what is listed therein. Clearance is performed via Pedimento A1 under tariff fraction 9804.00.01 of the TIGIE, filed by a customs broker. We prepare the list in the required format and take care of the certification for you, because any item outside that list is taxed at destination.

Customs clearance at both ends

We take care of export documentation in Brazil and monitor the release at ANAM through the ports of Veracruz, Altamira or Manzanillo, including coordination with the Customs Broker and the assembly of the residence dossier. You do not need to worry about bureaucracy — we handle everything.

Door-to-door delivery across Mexico

We deliver your move in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Querétaro, Puebla, Cancún and other states, including the Yucatán Peninsula and the Bajío region. From your address in Brazil to the door of your new home in Mexico, with unpacking and furniture assembly.

Specialized professional packaging

We pack your belongings with high-quality materials and professional techniques. Furniture, electronics, works of art — all protected with the utmost care.

Comprehensive international insurance

Your move travels protected by international insurance that covers the entire route — from collection in Brazil to delivery in Mexico.

Free virtual pre-move survey

We carry out the pre-move survey of your belongings by video call, without the need for an in-person visit. Practical, fast and without obligation.

Estimated door-to-door transit times, subject to the shipping line's or airline's schedule. They include collection, packing, customs clearance at origin and destination, and final delivery. The transit time for your move is confirmed in the quote after the service and route are defined.

Customs framework for the route: We conduct the route with the Household Goods Inventory certified at the Mexican consulate before shipment and the Pedimento A1 filed by a Customs Broker under tariff fraction 9804.00.01 of the TIGIE.

What is included within this timeframe

The times above are door-to-door and include collection and packing at the origin residence, cargo consolidation, waiting for the ship’s departure window, the crossing, customs clearance at both ends and final delivery with furniture assembly. We publish it this way because it is the timeframe you actually experience. Port-to-port times published by carriers may seem shorter because they only cover sailing time, without customs, collection or delivery.

Required documentation at both ends

What Mexican and Brazilian customs require, with the name of each document and the responsible agency.

Before shipment, in Brazil

Consulate of Mexico in Brazil

  1. 1

List of Menaje de Casa and consular certificate

This is the step that defines the route to Mexico. The customs duty relief depends on a Certificado a la Lista de Menaje de Casa issued by the Mexican consulate in Brazil, before shipment, with the detailed list of goods. Without this prior certificate, the move is not treated as household goods on arrival. We prepare the list in the required format and manage the scheduling and presentation at the consulate: the entire procedure is handled by One Moving, for your convenience.

  2. 2

Mexican visa for temporary or permanent resident

For the foreigner, the Mexican authority requires a temporary or permanent resident visa. It is the document that supports the status of the person transferring residency, and it must be issued before we begin the consular procedure.

  3. 3

Proof of acquisition of the goods at least 6 months prior

The goods must have been acquired at least 6 months before the date you intend to enter Mexico. Unlike countries that only require the goods to be used, here there is a numerical time requirement. We record this information in the inventory and advise on what to do with recently purchased items.

Departure from Brazil

Receita Federal do Brasil

  1. 1

    Declaration of export of goods

Export registration of unaccompanied baggage, conducted by our in-house team in Brazil, with issuance of the bill of lading in the name of the owner. One Moving hires and coordinates the customs broker and oversees the release from end to end, for your convenience.

  2. 2

Inventory compatible with the certified list

The inventory accompanying the cargo must exactly mirror the list that was certified by the consulate. Divergence between the two documents is the most common problem on this route, because Mexican customs cross-checks one against the other. All preparation is done by our team during packing and managed by One Moving, for your convenience.

Entry into Mexico

National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM)

  1. 1

Pedimento A1 filed by a customs broker

Customs clearance in Mexico obligatorily requires the filing of a Pedimento A1 by a licensed Mexican customs broker, under tariff fraction 9804.00.01. It is not optional: Mexican legislation reserves this act to the authorized broker. One Moving hires and coordinates this broker through our accredited network and oversees the release end to end, for your convenience.

  2. 2

Certificate of Menaje de Casa presented at customs clearance

The certificate issued by the consulate in Brazil is presented at customs clearance as the basis for the relief. It is the document that links the consular step to the customs step, and therefore the sequence cannot be inverted. All of this chain is managed by One Moving, for your convenience.

  3. 3

    Identification document and visa

Passport and the temporary or permanent resident visa, which prove the beneficiary's status before ANAM.

The consular certificate is obtained before shipment, not afterwards

The route to Mexico reverses the logic of many countries: here the decisive step takes place in Brazil, before the cargo departs. It is necessary to obtain the Certificado a la Lista de Menaje de Casa at the Mexican consulate, with the detailed list of goods. Whoever ships first and intends to resolve the documentation later loses the right to customs duty relief, because there is no way to certify retroactively a list of goods that is already on the ship.

Mexican customs broker is required by law

Customs clearance in Mexico requires the filing of a Pedimento A1 by a licensed customs broker, under tariff fraction 9804.00.01. Unlike countries where the move can be declared directly by the interested party, here the broker's intervention is reserved by law. This means the selection and coordination of that professional are part of the service, and not something you should arrange on your own at destination.

6 months of prior possession is a numerical time requirement

Goods must have been purchased at least 6 months before the intended date of entry into Mexico. It is not enough that they appear used: there is a temporal cutoff. Furniture and appliances purchased in the final stretch of the move tend to fall outside the relief, and it is better to know that before paying international freight for them.

Vehicles are excluded from the menaje de casa

This is the most costly mistake on the route. Automobiles, pickups, motorcycles, trailers and motorhomes are not considered part of household goods and are not covered by the relief. Attempting to include a vehicle on the list halts the entire shipment at customs, with fines and storage costs. Vehicle importation into Mexico is a completely separate operation, with its own procedures and taxation.

The window is 3 months before to 6 months after

Importation of household goods and personal effects can be done within the 3 months prior to your entry into Mexico or within the 6 months after your arrival. As maritime transit on this route takes 45 to 65 days, and the consular procedure takes place before shipment, the entire schedule needs to be planned backwards from your flight date.

List of items that cannot be included in the move

The Mexican regulation is explicit: excluded from household goods and personal effects are goods for commercial or industrial purposes, vehicles, plants, fruits, vegetables, food, alcoholic beverages, cleaning products, medicines, weapons, ammunition, chemicals and goods difficult to identify, such as powders, liquids and gases. It is one of the most extensive lists among the destinations we operate, and we review the inventory item by item with this filter.

Information verified in August 2026; we will confirm the conditions for your case before shipment.

FAQ Brazil — Mexico

The most frequent doubts on the route, answered based on the official rule.

By sea transport, the transit time is 45 to 65 days, and by air, 15 to 30 days. These times are door-to-door: they include collection and packing at your residence in Brazil, cargo consolidation, waiting for the vessel’s departure window, the crossing, customs clearance at both ends and final delivery in Mexico with furniture assembly. They should not be compared with port-to-port times published by carriers, which cover only the sailing time.

It is the document issued by the Mexican consulate in Brazil that certifies the list of your goods before shipment. It is the basis for the customs duty relief: without a prior certificate, the move does not receive treatment as household goods on arrival. This is the main difference of the Mexican route compared with other destinations, where the decisive documentation is presented at destination. We prepare the list in the required format and conduct the consular procedure for you.

Used personal and household goods that make up the household goods and personal effects may be imported duty-free, based on articles 61, fractions VII and VIII, and 142 of the Ley Aduanera and articles 100, 101 and 104 of its Regulation, under tariff fraction 9804.00.01. The conditions are the prior consular certificate, the temporary or permanent resident visa, acquisition of the goods at least 6 months earlier, and adherence to the importation window.

Importation may be performed within the 3 months prior to your entry into the country or within the 6 months after your arrival. Since maritime transit consumes 45 to 65 days and the consular procedure precedes shipment, we schedule from the date of your flight so that the cargo arrives within the window.

Mexican legislation requires that customs clearance be performed by a licensed customs broker who files Pedimento A1. There is no alternative provided for residential moves. You do not need to find this professional: One Moving hires and coordinates the customs broker through our accredited network and oversees the entire customs clearance, for your convenience.

Probably not. Mexico requires that goods have been acquired at least 6 months before the intended date of entry into the country. It is a numerical deadline, different from the generic used-goods requirement other countries adopt. Items purchased in the final stretch of the move tend to fall outside the relief, and we assess that with you during inventory preparation.

Not within the move. Automobiles, pickup trucks, motorcycles, trailers and motorhomes are not considered part of household goods and personal effects and are not exempt. Including a vehicle on the list is the most expensive mistake on this route, because it blocks the entire shipment at customs and generates fines and storage charges. Vehicle importation is a separate process, with its own taxation, and our team advises on feasibility case by case.

Yes. It is necessary to request the Certificado Zoosanitario para Importación at SENASICA offices at the point of entry, presenting a Certificado de Buena Salud issued no more than 15 days before travel, with current rabies vaccination (waived for animals under 3 months), and internal and external deworming performed within the last 6 months. The animal undergoes physical inspection on arrival and the transport crate must be clean, without bedding or accessories. Pet transport is a process separate from the move of goods and runs in parallel, handled by our pet department. We have already transported more than 1,000 animals.

Mexican regulations expressly list: goods intended for commercial or industrial purposes, vehicles, plants, fruits, vegetables, food, alcoholic beverages, cleaning products, medicines, weapons, ammunition, chemicals and goods of difficult identification, such as powders, liquids and gases. It is one of the most restrictive lists among the destinations we operate. We review the inventory with this filter before shipment, because a single improper item compromises the entire cargo.

In Brazil, collection, packing, preparation of the menaje list, the procedure at the Mexican consulate and exit documentation are conducted by One Moving’s own team. In Mexico, customs clearance with a licensed customs broker, final delivery and assembly are executed by accredited agents from our international network, under supervision from our team. Because the consular certificate is the critical point of this route, it remains entirely under our direct management here in Brazil.
